CHESTER

Incorporated in 1764, Chester is home to two National Historic Districts, including the Stone Village, a group of 19th-century buildings faced in gleaming mica schist. Six downhill ski areas are within a 25-minute drive. This quiet town is located in southeastern Vermont, about 30 miles north of Brattleboro, and is best reached by taking I-91 to exit 6, Rockingham; take Route 103 northwest 10 miles to Chester. Where 103 takes a sharp right in the village, continue straight on Route 11 (Main Street) to the village green.
